#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning ...

Aha - the end..... I did feel very pushed for time while doing this so have to admit that I approached some tasks with a grumpy mind. Having said that, I have had my mind opened to a whole wealth of useful stuff out there...most of them free which is in keeping with a Librarian's vision of information etc..

#22 Audiobooks (or "The end is in sight ")

Browsed the Children's book collection on the World Ebook Fair. Those pictures are amazing. What a great way to access these rare old books without damaging the originals...

#21 Podcasts, Smodcasts!

Spent some time searching for podcasts about Veronica Mars. Found quite a lot which is gratifying. Lots of people talking about their favourite TV I suppose. Couldn't get them to work on my work computer though........ Things like book and poetry readings would be great for a library setting, for those who can't read etc....

Managed to subscribe to TVaddict in my Bloglines account. Hours of pointless listening to be had!!!

#20 You too can YouTube

Tried to embed this VM video but doesn't seem to be working............

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

Downloaded Picasa but found that it wouldn't import my photos for some reason. Then, as a last resort, I read the Help - and it helped!!! It was exceptionally easy from there and some of the tools are quite sophisticated. Great that you can do this without spending money on Photoshop.... Spent a while looking at krazydad's mosaic pages....

#18 Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops

Published the document below using Zoho - very very easy

#17 Playing around with PBWiki

I find it a bit confronting putting my blog out there for others. I suppose you get used to expressing opinions in this strange online world but I find it weird not having immediate response. I am happy to see another Veronica Mars fan out there!

#16 So what's in a Wiki?

Ah yes, this is what the Web should be about - being able to do something, contribute, make a difference. Like an actual community! I like the library wiki with the knitting web site info and a recipe for a craft activity and book reviews as well. This helps recreate the sort of lateral thinking that leads to great or unexpected discoveries. Wikis also mean constantly changing information. Book reviews are a natural application for libraries, also local special interest groups could be included - Local History etc.

#15 On Library 2.0 and Web 2.0

The article about steering away from potential Icebergs was interesting - especially the point about not relying on large "collections" anymore. This is a good point, but we also have to be careful not to assume that everyone has access to all new technologies. If we take away the print collection....do they go without altogether? Also, a complete focus on user guided services...yes of course this is what we try to do, up to a point, but surely the point of librarianship as a profession is that in many ways we know best??? That sounds arrogant but I think all great institutions are arrogant to some extent, and society needs these institutions for stability and comfort. Just a thought........

#14 Technorati

Did a search for Learning2.0 in Blog posts and returned 12,616 hits. Same search in Tags returned 850 posts tagged with that term. In the Blog Directory 832 blogs were found. So yes the results were very different. Interesting to see that Boing Boing is the most popular Blog - in the world! Good to see that Britney is still a favourite search.........

#13 Tagging etc.

I can see how something like delicious would be useful, if you need your bookmarks wherever you go. It is the logical step after web based email I suppose. I especially enjoyed the "cloud of popular tags" where size reflects popularity. Tagging goes hand in hand with keyword searching. Amazon has introduced tagging and some of the tags seem ridiculous to me, but now maybe they will make more sense with my increased knowledge of the subject!

#12 Roll your own

Had a go at Rollyo. Got a bit carried away searching for books and pictures.... The searchroll thing takes a bit of thinking about, but the good thing is you can keep changing it depending on your interest. It can save a lot of time if you always look at the same sites anyway.

#11 All about LibraryThing

Found this very easy to use. Could come in handy for those tricky insurancy situations......or if your house burns down and you need to replace all your books! Have tried a few times to put up my library widget thing, but each time it has gone over the top of everything else, so might keep trying or just leave it.....

#9 Finding Feeds

I found the Google finder very useful and easy to use. The only problem is - I could sit all day and read blogs about Veronica Mars and where would that get me?

#8 RSS

Set up the Bloglines account. Don't know if I would find this useful - I tend to change my mind about what I want to look at...... I don't like the idea of somebody choosing for me...

#7 Blog about technology

Ahhh technology - so useful and so scary. Like those tiny tiny cameras that could go anywhere and film anything and then broadcast on the Internet for all to see.............

#6 More Flickr Fun

I was fascinated by the idea of retrievr - but couldn't get it to work. Maybe because my sketch was so crappy???

#5 Explore Flickr

Interesting exploring and seeing that many people have similar obsessions...........

#4 Registering blog

Amazing that so many names are already taken.......

#3 Setting up a blog

This was relatively painless.
